There must be something about the soft misty views of the Smokies, or perhaps there’s something in the fresh mountain air that stirs the imagination towards romance. Whatever the cause, Sevier County is also the site of over 25,000 weddings a year, which makes the area the hottest spot for weddings east of the Mississippi! To enhance the lure of the mountains as the appropriate place to tie the knot, several wedding chapels and catering services await to assist in planning the perfect event.
There are three places in Sevier County that marriage licenses may be obtained. Residency is not necessary, however proof of age by birth certificate or driver’s license and $36 is all that’s required to obtain the license.
